Patient Testimonials

Tympanoplasty and follow up
Jan 10th, 2014

We had a very positive experience with Dr. Hahn and his office staff as well as the associated audiologists. Our daughter had a large eardrum perforation with underlying ossicular erosion related to prior infection. The eardrum repair was successful. Due to ossicular damage and hearing loss, she underwent an additional surgery for potential reconstruction. She had more severe damage than previously thought with an abundance of scar tissue. Dr. Hahn was very thorough in explaining the options and reasons for different courses of therapy. We went forward with a hearing aid for her, and the audiologist was very helpful and informative throughout the process. Our daughter is 4 and pretty stubborn. Dr. Hahn, the nurses, and the audiologist were all great with her. We would definitely recommend to others.

I would rate this physician as exceptional and one which I would feel very comfortable referring other people to . He has a very pleasant personality and is conservative in his approach in dealing with patient's situations. I felt like I had made the right choice in seeing him for my problem.

Ear Surgery - No Problem
by Joe on Jan 8th, 2014

I was admittedly nervous about this surgery going in, but was pleasantly surprised to discover that the entire ordeal was relatively painless. Shocked, in fact. The hardest part was simply forcing myself to take it easy for a month so that the ear could properly heal. Dr. Hahn is the best - I researched it before going in, and I can't say how pleased I am in the end.

Dallas Ear Institute - Dr. Hahn
by Jodi on Dec 24th, 2013

Having a child with hearing issues, it's not been easy finding a doctor that we both like. Dr. Hahn really listens to his patient, even though he's a child. He speaks directly to my son, making sure he's comfortable with what's going on. And he makes sure I, too, as the parent understand the diagnosis, next steps, etc. I'd recommend Dr. Hahn to anyone who requires this specialty.

Thank you!

My experience with Dr. Hahn and the entire staff at Dallas Ear Institute has been extremely positive. I cannot thank Dr. Hahn enough for the care he has provided and for giving me back my ability to hear. From the first visit to the office, through the surgery and post-op appointments, it is/was evident that Dr. Hahn truly cares about his patients. I highly recommend Dr. Hahn and Dallas Ear. Thank you again.

Happy Surgical Result
by Mary Robinson on Dec 8th, 2013

I underwent surgery for encephalocele repair, cranioplasty because of sensor neural hearing loss, tinnitus and encephalocele-mastoid issues. Dr. Hahn took the time to test and then review the scans/tests and explain them to me prior to surgery. He also gave me options for the surgery needed. I feel extremely fortunate Dr. Hahn was the surgeon I chose. He and his staff took care of every detail. The surgery went well, there were no after effects from the anesthesia which the anesthesiologist, the other Dr. Hahn, got just right; no nausea afterwards at all! I went home the day of the surgery with very little pain and followed up with Dr. Hahn after a few days. The result of this surgery is amazing! My hearing is no longer disturbed by the pulsatile tinnitus because of the surgery. The Dr(s) Hahn, the surgical and pre/post op staff of Medical City and The Dallas Ear Institute staff, all took very good care of me. I highly recommend Dr. Hahn for any hearing, ear and skull base surgery issues. If you are looking for a qualified surgeon who is also caring and thorough this is the doctor for you. I know that this Dr. went above and beyond to listen to what was going on in my ear (pulsatile tinnitus) and work with me to find the best surgical outcome. I am very pleased and happy with the results and so very thankful my hearing is back to normal.

I had a great experience at Dr. Hahn's office. The staff, including the audiologist, were kind and courteous. Scheduling and appointment was never an issue, even with my busy work schedule. I had surgery for otosclerosis and it was successful, my hearing significantly improved and I experienced no pain whatsoever during the postop period. I can now have conversations without asking others to repeat themselves, I can better judge where sounds are coming from and I can use both ears when I speak on the phone. I am glad I chose Dr. Hahn as my specialist.

Perforated Ear Drum
by Loraine Fenton on Sep 18th, 2013

Dr. Hahn is an exceptional Dr. My 12 year old son had 2 fat graphs performed by his ENT that were not successful. Dr. Hahn performed a more extensive surgery and offered to come to Arlington to ease my son's anxiety and the trip home post-surgery since we live in Mansfield and the Dallas office is quite a hike. This kind of service is unheard of these days. His bedside manner is so calm and confident that my son had complete confidence that his 3rd surgery would be a success and it was! Thank you Dr. Hahn. I would recommend you to everyone.

Great doctor
by Aaron Cervantes on Aug 26th, 2013

I came to see Dr. Hahn when my first ear surgery (performed by another doctor) failed (I'm not sure why as I was extra careful and followed all recommendations). I like Dr. Hahn's personality and professionalism. He makes me feels confident in his knowledge and skill. I had my surgery and so far everything looks promising. I've regained some of my hearing and it seems I'm on my way to recovery. I have an appointment next week and I hope the news is still good. I've also been impressed with the services provided at Forest Park Medical Center. During both surgeries I've had there I was treated with great care, professionally yet with a personal touch. All personnel had a good attitude and seemed concerned with my well being. I never felt like just another patient. Dr. Hahn was of course excellent and I was also particularly impressed with the call from the anesthesiologist the day before the surgery. Her voice in my answering machine had a tone of a caring, concerned person. Her simple words saying everything was going to be all right and that they would take care of me did make me feel relaxed and sure I was in the right hands.

Dr. Hahn has helped me with a problem that led to the placement of a tube in my ear. He has always been professional, knowledgeable, and approachable. I appreciate that his manner invites conversation about my concerns and also expresses a confidence in his abilities to assess the situation correctly.

I have been working with Dr. Hahn for over a year now. He is my forth Dr. for my meniere's disease. I recently had a series of Vertigo attacks. I had difficulty trying to get an appointment through the front desk. I called the answering service after hours and he called me right back and told me to come in first this the next morning. As a Meniere's sufferer, my treatment plan will be different from another Meniere patient. And Dr. Hahn listened to my suggestions while also making his recommendations and not pushing one thing. In fact, he stated we were not ready to try the most aggressive treatments yet. This is not the first time I have called him after hours and he has always responded promptly. On the last visit, my wife accompanied me, and came away very impressed by him, which when it comes to doctors, is a big deal. I feel very comfortable and glad I found him to help treat this horrible disease.

I took my son to Dr. Hahn after having been to our family doctor several times and another ENT for a ear infection. The other doctors prescribed antibiotics for the infection and said that it would clear up in time. My son was born with a unilateral hearing loss and I felt that the doctors were not being proactive enough since he only has hearing in one ear that is when the ENT referred us to Dr. Hahn. At our first visit Dr. Hahn stated that my son had a severe infection and sent us straight from his office for an MRI to determine the extent. We were back in his office within an hour and were scheduled for surgery shortly thereafter. At the time of the surgery my son had lost 40% of his hearing, We are now five months out from surgery and well on our way to a full recovery. I cannot fully express my gratitude to Dr. Hahn for what he has done for us. I know that I must have been hard to deal with I was emotionally distraught not to mention somewhat of a helicopter mom but Dr. Hahn always treated me with compassion and took the time to explain things. He continues to take time at each of our check ups to answer our questions and keep us moving forward. I will never forget driving home after our first post surgery check up and my son saying to me "Mom, I can hear the wind moving I never heard that before!" My son's hearing is better today than it was before he came down with the infection. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Hahn for giving this gift to us. I will always recommend his office and staff who have treated us warmly and professionally at every turn.

Very Impressed
by Ken B. on Jun 30th, 2013

I had lost almost all hearing in one ear prior to seeing Dr. Hahn. After receiving steroid injections through my eardrum, I have seen my hearing greatly improve in that ear. I was very impressed with not only his knowledge and expertise, but also his caring attitude. A world of difference from the E.N.T. I had seen prior to visiting Dr. Hahn.

Why is he the best Dr. to see
by Shirley Hilster on Jun 30th, 2013

I was really impressed when meeting Dr. Hahn. So friendly and made me feel relaxed at all the questions he had asked me about my ear problem. He did not rush me through and explained in words I could understand. I feel so much better knowing my problem can be taken care of. I have already recommended him to all my friends. Super Bedside Manner.

Very good experience
by Ann J on Jun 29th, 2013

I like that Dr. Hahn really listens and tries to answer all questions. He has given me a lot of hope with my situation without sugar-coating my options. He and his staff really work to make appointment times workable for me since I live on the other side of the metroplex. I feel very confident in his treatment of me.

Being diagnosed with brain tumor was devastating. I had so many fears prior to surgery. But I was fortunate to be taken cared of by a team of highly skilled doctors of which Dr. Hahn was a part of. I would highly recommend Dr. Hahn to anyone. Throughout my whole experience, he addressed all my fears, answered all my questions and patiently explained to me and my family everything we needed to know about my condition. He visited me everyday even on weekends during my confinement, always reassuring me that I was doing well. I was having hearing loss and tinnitus in my right ear, along with some facial numbness. Getting a hearing aid did not help at all. Later on I was having problem with my balance and difficulty swallowing. CT scan and MRI showed I had a large brain tumor in my brainstem. My neurosurgeon referred me to Dr. Hahn for further evaluation. I had surgery last April 25. They made a small incision above my right ear and were able remove the entire tumor. Surgery took eleven hours. The next day I was able to sit down and walk. I went home after four days. Now two months after surgery, I am able to resume my normal activities. Everyone at the Medical Center of Dallas was great. I have no complaints about my stay in the hospital. My whole ordeal was certainly stressful but made easier by the excellent team who took care of me.

One of the finest doctors I have ever seen
Jun 25th, 2013

Dr. Hahn has one of the best bedside manners I have ever seen, I felt completely comfortable with him from the very first visit. After seeing numerous doctors for my condition, Dr. Hahn is the only one that nailed it. His staff is courteous , professional and gets the job done. The audiologists are fantastic. It is obvious he loves what he does. I love his compassion and the fact he takes time to really listen and not rush out of the exam room. I have been a nurse for 27 years so I know a great doctor when I see one.

Excellent Physician
by Pam Clanton on Jun 25th, 2013

I initially saw Dr. Hahn for tinnitus and later for vertigo. While my medical problems were not of a serious nature, he appeared genuinely concerned and took his time listening to me. After some testing he once again took time explaining the test results and answering all of my questions. While I realize my medical problems were basically an inconvenience to me, he treated me as if they were important to him. It is rare to find a physician with the bedside manner Dr. Hahn possesses. On the day of my office visit the waiting room was full and I know he had other patients waiting to be seen. However, his demeanor and undivided attention made me feel as if I was the only patient he had to see that day. I have no reservation in recommending this excellent physician!

Very pleased
by BeM on Jun 25th, 2013

I not only have ear issues highlighted by Cholesteatoma and including various other problems, but I suffer from a plethora of other conditions including a terminal lung disease (terminal but I'm already several years past projected and still going). My situation is very complicated. He has given it great thought and care. In addition, I make notes for each visit updating on other doctors and my situation with my ears and otherwise. He always takes the time to read them before entering the room. The last positive I want to mention is those times something additional or severe has arisen in regard to my ears. His staff is very good then about getting you in earlier.

Outstanding Doctor!
by James Ross on Jun 21st, 2013

I was referred to Dr. . Hahn by Dr. Chapman of the Cooper Clinic. Dr. Hahn is truly an exceptional Doctor. In addition to his skill and knowledge he is truly interested in you the person. A great listener, who patiently works with you in a manner to not only solve your problem but to explain all of your questions. And his staff are equally fantastic.

Dr. Hahn went above and beyond when my mother had her ear surgery. He came and checked on her before he left the clinic where the surgery was performed. He called and checked on her himself the day after her surgery. Have never had a doctor do that before, their nurses always did the calling. We had trouble getting the prescriptions filled and he made sure the pharmacy filled them. I would recommend Dr. Hahn to anyone.

Best ENT in Dallas!!

ear surgery
by Louise Powers on Jun 20th, 2013

My regular ENT doctor in Allen sent me to Dr. Hahn for evaluation of my right ear which has a severe hearing loss. Because the ear has had previous surgeries Dr. Hahn was very honest with me, not knowing until he did the surgery if it would help the hearing problem. I appreciated his honesty, making no promises. After the surgery, he did explain to my family that he could not do exactly what he had planned, but did what he could . I trusted him completely and knew he would do everything to the best of his ability . I would recommend him very highly to anyone with hearing problems . My daughter who was with me was also impressed with him, as he took time with her after the surgery explaining in detail what he had done. He answered all of her questions and went over in detail the care I would need. All in all, he made this experience a lot easier than I was expecting . Thanks, Dr. Hahn

Knowledgeable and attentive
Jun 20th, 2013

Dr. Hahn is one of the gentlest doctors I know. He does not rush you, he patiently answers all questions, and he reassures you every visit. Lots of specialists are experts, but not many are as kind as Dr. Hahn.

I became a patient to Dr. Hahn on 3/18/13. He found a serious problem in my ear that needed to be taken care of now. To make a long story short, my situation was taken care of very professionally and with a lot of care and respect not just of me but of my whole family. I have a long road of recovery in front of me and I'll let Dr. Hahn lead the way.

Acoustic Neuroma
by Shelley Aguilera on Jun 20th, 2013

I was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma, on my left side, September of 2012 after visiting my doctor. I had been having migraines for a while, but what got my attention was numb, tingling sensation I felt in my face. The doctor had me get an MRI, just to see, and that is how it was found. I then scheduled an appointment with ENT Doctor Stuart Thomas who told me that this was something that was beyond what he was capable of. He recommended that I see a "Super ENT" and told me that Dr. Hahn was it. It was about a month after that I was able to see him. Dr. Hahn was /is great! I didn't have any of the other symptoms that usually accompany an acoustic neuroma, being hearing loss, ringing in the ear, balance issues and such. Acoustic neuromas are typically slow growers and mine was on the smaller side, so Dr. Hahn suggested that we wait a few months to do another MRI and see if it is growing before jumping into any treatment, which I was thankful for. It gave me time to research and meet up with an acoustic neuroma support group. It was February when my next MRI was completed and when I saw Dr. Hahn again. We found out that the tumor was growing and discussed options for treatment. There is watch and wait, radiation therapy, or surgery to remove it. I am 32 years old and in good health, so we decided on surgery. Dr. Hahn was very upfront with the complications of surgery and recovery. He didn't sugar coat anything. This was going to be hard. He sent me to meet Dr. Coimbra, the neurosurgeon who would work along side Dr. Hahn in the surgery. Dr. Coimbra was/is also great. He went over the same complications with me and agreed that surgery would be the best route to take. Surgery was scheduled for April 5th. A couple of weeks before surgery I had to get a hearing test, an auditory brainstem response test, and a balance test done, along with a surgical clearance from my doctor. The day of surgery I had to be at the hospital bright and early to get prepped. Both Dr. Hahn and Dr. Coimbra checked on me before. I met those who would be monitoring my hearing and facial function, and also my anesthesiologist, whom I loved! Everyone was extremely nice and had genuine concern for me. My husband was allowed to stay with me up until I was rolled into the surgical room, where I went to sleep very quickly. My husband, along with my clan of family and friends, were able to get frequent updates through out my surgery in the waiting area. The surgery lasted around 7 hours. When I woke up, I had a jumping feeling of urgency to pick my daughter up from school, then I remembered where I was and relaxed. I was very cold and shaky. The staff helped me warm up quickly and then, I threw up. I knew this was going to happen, Dr. Hahn said it would. I felt nauseated and dizzy and kept my eyes closed for the most part. I was then wheeled to intensive care to be looked after until going home. Everyone there was so amazing! They made sure I was comfortable, had what I needed, and put up with my family. Dr. Hahn and Dr. Coimbra came by often to check on me also. My balance was out of wack, the nerve was gone, and my ear felt clogged up, which was due to fluid or swelling. But, I was able to keep my hearing and facial function. Those were two things that both doctors wanted to maintain for me. (I did get a hearing test done just yesterday and found that I have lost a teeny tiny bit in my left ear, the higher octaves. But, I can hear!) My surgery was on a Friday and I got to go home on Monday. I was given a list of balance exercised to do that would help "retrain" my brain. My recovery has gone extremely well! I have had very little pain, nothing a little Tylenol wouldn't fix. And was able to get up and move around faster than I had expected. I started driving again six weeks after surgery and currently feel pretty normal. Every now and then I feel a little off, but nothing too bad. I can not thank God enough for the skill and knowledge that he has blessed Dr. Hahn and Dr. Coimbra with. They were both upfront and real with me and are amazing, caring doctors that I would recommend to anyone.

I can't say enough nice things about Dr. Hahn. I have had a lifetime of difficulties with my left ear and have been deaf in my left ear for 38 years. Dr. Hahn recently performed surgery on my ear and I am now hearing birds sing for the first time in 38 years. I highly recommend Dr. Hahn!

Great Doctor-So Good We'll Miss Him!
by Trent & Ashley Herchman on Jan 16th, 2013

Dr. Hahn is a great doctor! He has wonderful report with his patients, in our case, our six year old son. He used great care and sincerity when working with our son and us. He related well with our son and visited with him about his interests all while keeping us informed about procedures and surgeries. As for our son's condition, Dr. Hahn, on the first visit had an idea of the problem and followed up with tests and procedures on the same day to get an accurate diagnosis. He always gave us encouragement about our son's diagnosis and stayed positive even when complications occurred. Through Dr. Hahn's expertise and skill he was able to restore our son's hearing in his right ear from maximal hearing loss to almost perfect!

Outstanding Doctor

Dr. Hahn immediately had a plan for my surgery and recovery. He really cared about me and did the surgeries to make sure there was no more growth behind the eardrum and mastoid bone. I highly recommend him and the Staff at Dallas Ear Institute.

Finally have a happy twelve year old at home
Oct 17th, 2012

Enough positive things cannot be said about my experience with Dr. Hahn. My son has unfortunately had the misfortune of having 6 prior surgeries on both ears, whether tubes, patches and the more invasive tympanoplasty. Finally, after being referred to Dr. Hahn, my son's 11 year battle with ear infections and use of ear protectors has come to an end. Dr. Hahn, performed the final tympanoplasty successfully. From a parents perspective that is priceless. From my twelve year olds perspective, Dr. Hahn was incredible. He made sure my son understood the procedure and spent all the time that a confused twelve year old with a ton of questions would have to answer his questions. This wasn't just before the surgery, Dr. Hahn never made us feel rushed, even after the 4 post surgery visits and always answered and explained everything to us and more importantly to my son. Thank You Dr. Hahn, my son Ryan S. is grateful to you and I finally have a happy twelve year old at home.

My daughter was sent to Dr. Hahn after a failed tympanoplasty, he was kind, had an amazing bedside manner that made my 6yr old and myself feel at ease with the procedure. Dr. Hahn repeated the tympanoplasty on my daughter with perfect results, he followed her very carefully, explaining things the whole way. We recently moved 1500 miles away from Dallas but while visiting had problems with her ear, I called needing an appointment the next morning to work around a previous appt. They worked with me without hesitation, we had an appt. with a minimal wait. From the front office to Dr. Hahn himself our experience has been nothing but exceptional!!!

An extremely professional and caring doctor
Jun 27th, 2012

Dr. Hahn evaluated me to assess pressure in my ears and possible hearing loss. He was extremely thorough and detail-oriented, as were his staff who conducted the hearing test. His caring attitude and ability to express in layman's terms various health issues was impressive. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Hahn, and he would be the first place I would direct my family should they have any auditory concerns.

Ear problems

I felt very comfortable with Dr. Hahn. He was kind, patient, and we spoke for a long while about my concerns and options. He personally made phone calls and helped to get a test scheduled at another center. I knew my results very quickly, because he spoke with the radiologist. He was very realistic on what to expect. I would definitely recommend him. I felt that he did a good job answering all my questions, and I've been very happy with his care.

My favorite doctor

I received the best gift a girl could want, my hearing. To this girl this means the world. You will think I'm nuts but hearing the garage door opener after my surgery put such a smile on my face. I had to go back into the house, it was so loud. Thanks so much doc.

Outstanding Experience

Everything and more otology care should be, can't say enough good things about this doc, only negative thing about this doc is when word gets out about his outstanding services the ease for scheduling an appt may get harder. Oh well, good things are worth waiting for! I work at a hearing aid center and we refer many patients to Dr. Hahn for any necessary medical treatment. He is spot on in every way!

This doctor knows his stuff, He gave me back my hearing. He always has a positive attitude. And keeps the patient informed of everything going on, good or bad. My situation turned out great, but he lets you know all of the problems that might come up, so you are well informed of any concerns you might have. This Doctor gets an A rating from me, and I recommend any body that has to say "HUH" more than two times in a conversation go see Dr. Hahn he will fix you up!

Both my son and my husband see Dr. Hahn for Middle ear issues, he did their surgeries and we were all so impressed with his bedside manner and the care he has for his patients. He takes his time with you in his office, and is very attention to detail. His staff is all smiles, and you can tell they know who you are when you arrive and you are treated very well. We love them!!
