Neurotology Medical Student Research Fellowship
Overview
Dallas Ear Institute, a leading center for ear, hearing, balance, and lateral skull base care, in conjunction with Baylor University Medical Center, a major academic hub in North Texas, has created a paid, full-time 12-month clinical research fellowship (July 1 – June 30) . This research experience is geared toward aspiring otolaryngologists who are seeking a research year between their third and fourth years in medical school. The fellow will conduct clinical research within otology/neurotology and have the opportunity to work closely with all surgeons at Dallas Ear Institute as well as subspecialists in otolaryngology at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Surgeons at the Dallas Ear Institute will serve as the student’s primary mentoring team, and a mentor meeting between Dr. Ankita Patro and the student will occur at least weekly.
Educational Objectives
The primary aim of this fellowship is to equip students with the research and clinical skills that are necessary for a competitive residency application in otolaryngology. - Submissions to Institutional Review Board (IRB)
- Conducting data management through REDCap software
- Performing basic biostatistical analyses
